In addition to all of the holiday cheer that you’ll be able to have with your family, the town itself also puts on plenty of great events for you to attend. Photoshoots with Santa, parades, gorgeous displays of lights, and more all await you during your holiday escape to Mammoth, and you’ll thank yourself for seeing some of them while you’re in town.
Night of Lights at the Canyon Lodge
Most of the time, the fireworks are saved for New Year’s Eve, but when you attend this event, you’ll get a chance to see the lights without having to wait for the ball to drop at the turn of the new year. This is a family friendly event with plenty more going on than just the light display, so you’ll have plenty to keep you and the kids busy while you enjoy the show.
Multiple different viewing locations are offered if you’re looking for that special view, but they all have limited tickets available. The rooftop viewing area provides a prime viewing location, and you’ll be able to purchase drinks and food from the rooftop bar while you hold down your table in anticipation for the show. Even more limited is the indoor seating option, which will place you on the 4th floor of the lodge with a great view out the window. Wherever you’re standing, you’ll also be able to enjoy the live music that they’ll have playing on site.
SantaVille
Join the local mascot Woolly and Santa as they team up to bring you an interactive night of fun at the Village Plaza. This event runs from December 20th – December 23rd and runs from the afternoon into the early evening. Kids will definitely enjoy taking photos with Santa and Woolly while getting in the holiday spirit courtesy of Mammoth Sports. This is one of the best things to do for Christmas in Mammoth!
All of the Outdoor Fun
When you aren’t enjoying the events or relaxing at home, you’ll love experiencing all of the outdoor activities that Mammoth is known for. Winter is an especially great time to see the area in all its splendor, and the snow makes for all of the best winter sports you’ll be able to handle. Skiing and snowboarding are, of course, some of the favorite activities that visitors enjoy during their stay here, and it’s little wonder why given how incredible the slopes are.
Snowmobiling is also a popular winter activity out here, and there are plenty of different companies for you to secure your rental from. If you’ve never been before, it’s highly recommended that you find someone to offer you a guided tour along some of the trails, because they’ll make sure you stay on safe paths while also getting some of the best views of the area.
There’s plenty more worth mentioning, too. Things like ice skating, sledding, tubing, cross country skiing, and more are available and have great spots for those who know where to look. If you’re looking for your new favorite spot, the locals are sure to have some great tips!
